An Exhibition of Paintings by Sidney Nolan

Wednesday 20 August until Sunday 31 August 2008
11:00am - 5.30pm
The Sidney Nolan Trust, The Rodd, Presteigne

Sidney Nolan

Sidney Nolan established the Sidney Nolan Trust at The Rodd, Presteigne in 1985, as a rural arts organisation that would not only mount exhibitions of his own paintings but would also promote fine art, music and performance in the area. He was inspired by the festivals at Aldeburgh, where he regularly exhibited, organised by his great friend Benjamin Britten.

In 2008 the exhibition at The Rodd coincides with one that is currently touring Australia. This is the first major retrospective of the artist's work since his death in 1992 and whilst it chronicles the artist's painting career through some of his most iconic masterpieces, the works that will be shown at The Rodd represent a more personal insight with paintings that Sidney kept in his own possession.
