Open Gardens Fundraising Event at Bryan's Ground, Presteigne

Wednesday, 14th July 2010

Bryan’s Ground encompasses three acres of intimate, interlocking garden rooms featuring an array of horticultural delights. Owners David Wheeler and Simon Dorrell (publishers of the gardening journal Hortus) kindly opened the gardens especially in support of the Presteigne Festival.

The garden, which has been growing since 1913, is furnished with follies and fragrant flowers, towers and topiary, pools and a potager, and paths to five acres of specimen trees on the banks of a river, on the border with Wales. The beautiful irises were in full bloom.

This event was a wonderful occasion for all to enjoy. Local musicians John Hymas and Ruth Watson played musical interludes throughout the afternoon and tea and cake was on offer amongst the abundance of blooms and idyllic scenery. A perfect summer’s afternoon.
